Con-way Multimodal announced the appointment of Gregory L. Orr as president of the freight brokerage division of Menlo Logistics. He was previously the vice president of operations. In his new role, Orr will be responsible for leading the company’s market growth and strategic development. He will direct financial and operating performance as well as maximize collaborative business opportunities with other Con-way business units. “We are very pleased to have Greg lead our fastest growing division,” said Gary Kowalski, senior vice president and CEO of Menlo Logistics. “His management skills and industry experience will provide the leadership to continue Con-way Mulitmodal’s growth and development.” Orr joined Con-way multimodal in 2008 as the vice president and general manager of the company’s Portland, Ore., operation. C.R. England appointed TJ McGeean as the Chief Financial Officer of the company, replacing current company president, Josh England who had been serving in a dual role as CFO since 2013. McGeean joined C.R. England in December 2008 as a controller in the company’s Dedicated Division. He was made the director, operations finance in 2010 and was promoted to vice president of finance in 2013. “During TJ’s tenure with the company, he has brought a great deal of sophistication to our financial planning and oversight and made us much better as a company in these areas,” said Josh England, president of C.R. President Obama intends to nominate Mark Rosekind of the National Transportation Safety Board to the top job at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Rosekind is a noted fatigue scientist who has studied truck driver hours of service rules and supported tougher screening for sleep disorders among drivers. His portfolio at NHTSA, if he is confirmed, would cover equipment regulations rather than driver-oriented rules. Among the top trucking items on the agency’s agenda are a rule to require speed limiters on new heavy trucks, and proposed fuel efficiency standards. Rosekind has served at NTSB for the past four years. The board’s job is to investigate crashes and propose safety solutions to the various regulatory agencies, including NHTSA. Before he joined NTSB, Rosekind was president and chief scientist of Alertness Solutions, which provides fatigue management programs, among other lines of business. Oregon Trucking Associations President Debra Dunn resigned from her four-year post on Nov. 7 According to a release from the group, she will work on developing her consulting firm, Synergy Resources Group, where she specializes in working with businesses, nonprofit organizations and closely held family organizations. Dunn also plans to maintain her role as a transportation policy advisor, working with government agencies to resolve conflicts and leading grassroots campaigns. “My time with OTA was both fulfilling and challenging as the trucking industry encountered a number of changes,” said Dunn, “Even with the ongoing issues that trucking is facing, I believe OTA is in a good position to help guide Oregon trucking businesses into the future.” The board of directors at Oregon Trucking Associations is currently interviewing candidates to fill Dunn’s position. A restructuring of the senior leadership team at truck and engine manufacturer Navistar Inc. was announced on Thursday, including one retirement. Bill Kozek, president of Navistar’s North America truck and parts, has been promoted to president of truck and parts, and is adding global/export truck and parts sales, product planning and Navistar Defense to his current responsibilities. Persio Lisboa, senior vice president and chief procurement officer, has been promoted to president of operations and is now also responsible for product development, manufacturing, and global businesses. FedEx Corp. announced on Wednesday FedEx Freight President and CEO William J. Logue will retire Dec. 31 due to undisclosed heath reasons. He has been in the role at the less-than truckload carrier since 2010. Michael L. Ducker, a 40-year FedEx veteran, will succeed Logue as president and CEO of FedEx Freight. He will move into his new role on Jan. 1 from his current position as chief operating officer of FedEx Express. “Bill Logue has led FedEx Freight to significant growth, success and a leading position in the LTL industry,” said Frederick W.
